DUMPSTER FIRE -- Members of the Bingen Fire Department quickly put out a dumpster fire that was reported around 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The dumpster is located on BNSF railroad property behind Steuben Street, in between SDS Lumber and the Dickey Farms office building. The fire was believed to have been started by thermite charges discarded by railroad contractors who had recently used them for track welding.
