A Stevenson, resident was killed Wednesday night in a single vehicle traffic crash on Interstate 84 westbound about one mile west of Hood River.
On June 21, 2006, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a 2004 Volkswagon Golf driven by Jared Saltness, 29, Stevenson, was westbound on I-84 near milepost 60 when it exited the freeway onto a short access road, failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a dirt embankment.
Saltness was wearing safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The cause of the crash is unknown and the investigation is continuing.
Oregon State Police troopers from The Dalles Area Command are continuing the investigation. Hood River Sheriff's Office, Westside Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
