Last Friday was a sort of Senior Day for Klickitat County track and field athletes competing in the final district competitions of their prep careers.

At the 2011 Southwest District 1A championships in Rainier, Columbia High senior Kirsten Larsen and qualified for state in three events, Heidi Nybroten and Evan Nystrom made it in two, and Joshua Bell and Jordon Barnedt will go to Cheney in one each.

Larsen, in the 100 and 200, and Nystrom, in the 100 and 400, each set two personal records during the district meet.

The Central Regional 1B meet in Wapato also was a day for seniors to stand out. Liz Vogt of Trout Lake/Glenwood and Samantha Brewer of Klickitat both qualified for state in Cheney in four events. Each won three and qualified for a fourth by meeting the state minimum standard.
