GLENWOOD HOMEMAKERS

Glenwood's Homecoming court for 2012 has been announced. Royalty include Dakota Jones, Tiffany McCoy, Ashley Sampson, Catherine Settler, Spencer Hallenbeck, Kenny Henderson, Jonathan Throop and Perry Wasgatt. The princesses and princes will reign over activities from Jan. 23 through 27 with the theme: "The 80s -- Footloose! Scheduled school festivities include dress up days; hall decorations; class competitions; basketball games with Klickitat; crowning of the 2012 Homecoming King and Queen; and a dance following the games.

Remember that the Glenwood School is looking for volunteers to help with its African Enrichment Day on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Specifically people with sewing machine skills are being asked to help students make about fifty dresses for African children. The school is also seeking egg cartons (1 dozen size), clean rags and scraps of wire and small items that can be used to create unique toys. If you can donate some of these items; or are willing to help students operate sewing machines for the dress-making activity; please contact Miss Alexander at 364-3438 extension 214. Whether you have only an hour or the entire day to help with this project -- your assistance will be very much appreciated.

The Glenwood Homemakers would like to thank everyone who donated time and ingredients for the Homemakers' Disaster Relief Dinner as well as those who purchased meals. The Homemakers raised $900 from the event that was in turn donated to the Salvation Army Worldwide Relief Fund and the Klickitat County Search and Rescue. Again, thank you everyone for your support.

The Glenwood School District is asking for support of its 2013 and 2014 levies in the amount of $110,000 for each year. Voters will have the opportunity to give a yea or nay on that request on the Feb. 14 ballot.

Our thoughts are with Tom Burns and Ray Lemley for rapid and complete recoveries!

Condolences are extended to Kay Carr's and Richard Hansen's families on the death of their sister, Irene Fields.
