It sounds to me that the whole school levy measure is moot and we are back to square one except the EDS is now in control and as I understand it there's nothing much we can do but to let them handle it. Perhaps the new interim superintendent; a Ms. Glennys Hill from Kelso School District, will have some answers. It would be good to hear plans for the opening of this school year, so plan to attend the School Board meeting on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. in the board room at the High School.

Lyle Community Council's public meeting is Monday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m., at the Lion's Club. As there are no speakers on this month's agenda there will be an open discussion for the good of the order and the community. If you have community concerns or great ideas, it would be a good time to share them.

Beginning Saturday, Aug 26, S&K Painting will be suspending the repainting work on the Hood River Bridge while they complete work on other Northwest projects. They will be off the bridge until early to mid-October then they will continue work on the final span. If all goes well and the weather is decent when they resume work, they plan on being done before the end of the year.

For those people that always say, "Gee, you should have contacted me earlier; I would have been glad to have participated," here is an early heads up about the Health Fair Trunk Show, Saturday, Sept. 22, at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lyle Activity Center. Skyline Hospital will be offering lab services from 9 to 11 a.m. with a CBC and chem panel includes cholesterol check $40 and a PSA (Prostate test) for men $20. Fasting is a must. Free massage demonstrations, functional medicine therapies, and wellness speakers will be on hand.

Don't forget the Twin Bridges Museum is open to the public on Saturdays from 10 to 4. The admission is free.(a donation box is available). Donations of articles can be dropped off but the board would appreciate the donor's name for acquisition purposes. If something of your grandparents is not quite familiar to you bring it by and perhaps a member can help you recognize its initial purpose.
