Children to present musicalHigh Prairie News for Sept. 13September 11, 2012 By Audrey Bentz 365-3600 amsong@gorge.net Twenty children (mostly from High Prairie) will be presenting a musical "Trio of Heroes" at the High Prairie Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m. They will be singing music in blues, classical folk, country, soft rock, even "rap," and including their instruments (violins, flute, guitar, mandolin, banjo, drums). You will be amazed at the talent we have on the "prairie," and so we invite the larger community to come and enjoy and support these wonderful young people with your attendance. There is no charge, but a donation for the use of the community center would be welcome. On Friday, Sept. 28, the larger community is invited to attend the fall potluck dinner at the High Prairie Community Center, which will be followed by the music of the Strawberry Mountain Band, for listening and dancing. The meal begins at 6 p.m. and music will follow at 7 p.m. Also, at the Community Center, exercise classes continue on Saturdays. Qi Gong and/or yoga with DVD begins at 10 a.m., followed by Zumba which will be led at 10:30 a.m. There is no charge, other than a suggested contribution for use of the building. High Prairie is proud of High School Senior Tatiana Taylor, who competed in the Klickitat County Fair with these honors: top senior beef showman, and also winning the senior round robin showman, senior division with six animal categories. All four of Tatiana's grandparents live in High Prairie. High Prairians are wondering what is going on, in that deer are suddenly scaling 8 foot fences as never before. So many of us who have gardens or work in the community garden are having to raise the height of fences for the first time! |
