Snowden community invited to potluck

On Saturday

October 16, 2012

All Snowden residents are invited to participate in an evening of community awareness with a potluck dinner on Oct. 20 at the Cherry Lane Fire Station, beginning at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the dinner and get-acquainted meeting is to resurrect a sense of community that was once prevalent in the Snowden area.

The potluck will begin at 5 p.m., but residents whose schedules are tight should feel free to attend regardless of whether they have a dish to pass, or cannot arrive by 5 p.m. Come when you can.

At about 6 p.m., the attendees will sit down for a discussion of what makes a community, how they might make that happen, how individuals can contribute to the feeling of community, and how structured the group wants the community to be.

Residents will also learn more about the recently built Facebook-style group called Snowden Community. Residents are already signing in to www.Snowdencommunity.org and posting messages about life in the Snowden area including things they need to borrow, or are willing to lend or trade. Important messages like the extension of the Washington burn ban are also posted there. And there is a page on which residents can post the history of the Snowden area.

If you have questions or comments about this meeting, contact Lois Bancroft at 493-1080, or email her at loisbanc@gorge.net.

All residents are welcome .
