Ladies of the Elks to award scholarship

For deserving woman

November 14, 2012

Jaci Dietch of White Salmon received the Polly Garland Award from the Washington Elks Association. She was the recipient of the award having been nominated by members of the BPOE Lodge #1868 in White Salmon.

Her nomination was based on her volunteerism and accomplishments in the community and support of Elkdom at the Lodge level. She was chosen to represent the (Southwest Washington) district at the state level. She was in the running with five other candidates from the state.

Upon winning the state award, Dietch received recognition during the Polly Garland Award Luncheon at the Washington Elks Association Convention in Pasco in June and a $1000 scholarship to be awarded as she thought appropriate.

Dietch is the president of the Ladies of the Elks (LOE). She and the members of the LOE have chosen to award this scholarship of $1000 to a deserving woman in our area to assist in the accomplishment of that woman's goals in education to contribute to her family, herself and her community.
