Chamber to host press release workshop

On Monday, Dec. 3, the Mount Adams Chamber of Commerce will teach indivdiuals how to write an effective press release, and more importantly, how to distribute press release to writers, editors, and bloggers.

The free workshop will explain the difference writing a press release that is a glorified sales pitch and writing a press release that is newsworthy. Sales pitches usually end up in the "deleted folder."

This workshop will be held in the White Salmon Valley Community Library from noon to 1 p.m.

Writing press releases is only half the battle. Few businesses have the wherewithal to email press releases to a media list that is tailored to the subject.

This workshop will also show participants how to distribute press releases to writers, editors, and bloggers who are specifically interested in a specific topic.

This is a hands-on workshop, so bring a pad of paper.

Participants will draft an outline of their first press release.

This workshop will be conducted by Scott See of J. Hammock & Associates, LLC, a company that specializes in global marketing.
