Attend holiday dinner, see Santa tooHigh Prairie News for Dec. 13December 11, 2012 By Audrey Bentz 365-3600 amsong@gorge.net Saturday (Dec. 15) all High Prairians and friends are invited to the annual Christmas/Holiday dinner. This special banquet meal, prepared by Debbie MacDonald and helpers, and served by the younger teens, will begin at 5:30, although doors open at 5 p.m. There will be special music by the High Prairie Larksters and the young High Prairie Songsters, along with singing of Christmas carols. And Santa, of course, will arrive on the fire truck with some gifts for children. For those planning to attend, it is suggested that they RSVP to Barb Parrish at 365-4117 if possible, although not required. There is no charge for the meal, but donations will be appreciated. Last Thursday the High Prairie Community Council's meeting began with a discussion of preparation for the winter, in the event that there is a repeat of the last winter. A strong theme of the presentation centered on the need to work together as a community and show concern for neighbors who may be in difficulty. The Lyle Christmas Bird Count occurs on Sunday, Dec. 16, and volunteers will tour High Prairie looking for sudden movements or familiar shapes of birds, taking in beautiful (snow covered?) scenery in the process. There will be hot cider and munchies at the close. If interested, call Jake Jakobosky at 365-0025. |
