GLENWOOD HOMEMAKERS

Jingle Bells...Jingle Bells...Yeah! The snow has arrived in Glenwood! The foot of snow we received over the weekend is finally making it seem more like Christmas time in the Glenwood Valley! The holiday lights that have been appearing around the valley make the area seem even more festive now that they can reflect off of the snow!

Several local activities are ushering in Christmas in Glenwood. Beginning with the Christmas Pageant at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church last Sunday evening... budding actors and actresses from pre-school age to waaay older than that did a nice job of presenting the story of Baby Jesus to the community. Tasty refreshments were provided following the program.

The school's annual Christmas Concert was planned for Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. in the gym. All students participated in providing holiday entertainment for the community. Following the childrens' program, Santa greeted youngsters and passed out candy canes. The Glenwood Homemakers served their most-delicious cookies and cocoa to everyone following the concert as well.

School cooks, Kim Thomas and Pam Keithly, are going to serve a traditional Christmas dinner to students, staff and guests on Friday, Dec. 21, at 10:45 a.m. Reservations are required for this dinner. Santa sacks will be passed out to students and staff before school is dismissed at noon for Christmas vacation.

Per tradition...The Pioneer Memorial Community Church members are planning to bundle up and sing Christmas carols around the community. The group can flat out spread holiday cheer with their beautiful songs! A special Christmas Eve service is planned at the church on Dec. 24. If you have questions about either activity please contact Pastor Butch Hallenbeck at 364-3517. May each of you enjoy a wonderful Christmas!

Mrs. Amanda Justman and soon-to-be born Samantha Hope Justman were honored with a baby shower on Dec. 8 at the Glenwood Grange. The Justmans will be prepared for the arrival of Samantha; and she'll be a well-dressed little girl! We're looking forward to hearing of Samantha's arrival in the near future!

Okay, if you haven't attended the annual reading by the elementary students during the book fair...you've missed out on some pretty neat entertainment. Hats off to our teachers and the reading program at Glenwood School! Even the little pre-school children read beginning books while the older students read some very enjoyable stories to the audience on Dec. 12. What a fun event -- and I'm not just saying that because I'm a proud grandma!

The Class of 2016 would like to thank the community for support of its taco feed on Dec. 12. The meal was tasty...and the proceeds will help fund their senior educational trip!
