Sweet Adelines teach world to sing

All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing.

Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to Harmony of the Gorge's Global Open Houses, Tuesday evenings in Jan. (15, 22, and 29), from 7 to 9:30 p.m., at the Hood River Valley Christian Church.

Harmony of the Gorge Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style.

Members of Harmony of the Gorge share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. As a member, individuals too can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing with Harmony of the Gorge.

Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of Judy Beckman, the chorus director, and the chorus' musical leaders.

The chorus performs regularly throughout the Mid-Columbia, providing entertainment for meetings, fairs, parties, conventions, special events, Valentine's, and during the Christmas season.
