Lyle News for Jan. 17

It was brought to my attention that I erroneously dated the OLESS meeting in my last column as Monday, Jan. 17. As the 17th doesn't fall on a Monday it caused confusion as to which one it was .. Monday, Jan. 14, or Jan. 17 which falls on a Thursday. Upon receiving a confirmation call I had to make one myself to verify. It turns out it was Monday, Jan. 14 and I'm very sorry that it is too late to attend. Their next meeting is Feb. 11; (that is if I'm not mistaken.)
The community wishes to thank Dave Elkins for his years of dedicated service as a commissioner of the Skyline Hospital. His resignation created an open seat that Vern Harpole M.D. was appointed to fill for the remainder of the year. Harpole declared an open policy for anyone with Skyline issues to reach him either by phone...509-480-2607 or email...email@example.com
Eleven Sundowner Ladies met for a Jan. 8 luncheon at the new "Concourse A Cafe" at the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport in Dallesport. As they dined and chatted they were surprised to see a 14 passenger jet land and taxi up close to the terminal. Curiosity rose when various terminal employees were seen taking turns photographing each other with it in the background; and heightened when two shiny black SUVs drove up close to it. After much speculation as to what celebrity or politician could be arriving, further investigation (by yours truly) determined (to the ladies disappointment) it to be only a personal aircraft of Boeing sent to transport some of their personnel to Seattle. After the luncheon the ladies were invited to dessert at the home of Mary Sorensen.
Along the RV Sundowner's note, 14 regular members attended their monthly meeting and filled a room at the Los Reyes Mexican Restaurant in Bingen on Sunday, Jan. 13. The group enjoyed the great food as well as each other's companionship.
With "What's Happening in Lyle" email newsletter now in limbo, if any organization wishes to have its meetings or events publicized, please contact me at either of the above; phone or email.
The Lyle Alumni wish to express its deepest sympathy to the Ray Krall family. He was a graduate of the class of 1956 and was as popular in sports as he was with his classmates.
