Death notice for Donald Clack

DONALD "BUTCH" CLACK

Donald Orville Clack, known to friends as "Butch," passed away in The Dalles, Ore., on Jan. 22, 2013, at the age of 76. He was born in Ontario, Ore., on July 18, 1936 to Blue Belle (Snow) and Welby Orville Clack.

Butch grew up in Union, Ore., and graduated from Union High School in 1955.

On March 2, 1957, he married Barbara Cantrell in Union. Mr. Clack worked in La Grande, Ore., for Boise Cascade. In the early 1960s, they moved to Klickitat, where he worked in the lumber mill. When the mill closed in 1996, Butch went to work for Dodge Logging out of Maupin, Ore., until his retirement.

Butch liked taking drives and was often referred to as the "Hunters' taxi." He loved going "muddin'," shooting, drives, spending time with his family and BSing with the good ole boys.

Butch enjoyed taking all the grandkids to the Ice Plant to watch the old spring bubble up and letting the kids drive around.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, White Salmon Ward and enjoyed going around being a visiting teacher.

Mr. Clack is survived by his wife Barbara of Klickitat; son Donald Clack of Carson; son Howard Clack and his wife Brenda of Klickitat; daughter in law Sloan Clack; sister Artie Thielen of La Grande and sister Bonnie Carson of Boise, Idaho; brother Sam Clack of the Philippines; grandchildren Cassie, Hunter, Morgan, Deidra and her fiance Joaquin and great grandchild Axel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step dad Lynn, daughter Sandra, son Kenneth "Bud," and brother Philip.

A funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in White Salmon on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Union Cemetery in Union, Ore.
