ObituariesDeath notices for Shawn Lance and Vincent SchmerberFebruary 26, 2013 SHAWN LANCE Shawn Russell Lance, 40, of Kennewick, passed away Feb. 14, 2013, at his home. He was born May 25, 1972 in Great Falls, Mont., to David and Candice Lance.Shawn spent most of his youth growing up in White Salmon and moved to Kennewick in 1988. As a child he had an infectious laugh and a zeal for just living and experiencing life. He had a love for animals and brought home more than his share of strays -- cats, dogs, rabbits, one time he even brought home a sheep he found roaming in the neighborhood. Shawn enjoyed spending time with friends and had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and always had a humorous story to tell of his escapades. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Shawn leaves behind his wife, Jennifer Marie Lance; daughters, Makayla Lance (Athol, Idaho) and Shawna Lance; and son, Skylar Lance. Other survivors include his parents, David and Candice Lance of Kennewick; sister, Wendy Holtmann of Underwood; brother, Martin Lance; and nephews, Derek Holtmann, Austin Holtmann and Ashton Lance all of Kennewick. Shawn was preceded in death by infant daughter, Rachel Kaye Lance. A memorial service will be held at Hillview Baptist Church, 1621 W 27th Ave, Kennewick, on March 23, 2013, at 3 p.m. VINCENT SCHMERBER On Feb. 20, 2013, John Vincent Schmerber, 70, passed away at his home in White Salmon, with his loving family by his side. He was born October 18, 1942 in Salem, Ore., to Josephine Emma (Hoag) and Louis Karl Schmerber.On March 25, 2000, John married Kathryn "Kay" Kent. They lived in the Snowden area of White Salmon where John was a self-employed farmer, growing cherries and garlic. John loved being a farmer and he liked to fish. He is survived by his wife, Kay; his children Amy Paulette Schmerber of Bothel and John Christian Schmerber of Kennewick; stepson Matthew Thomas Briggs and his wife Joanna Amparo Giuttari of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three brothers, three sisters and many nieces and nephews. Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon handled cremation arrangements. |
