Stewards seeking public input on forest managementMeeting set for March 19March 12, 2013 Mt. Adams Resource Stewards (MARS) will be hosting a forum to gather input on management of the Mt. Adams Community Forest on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glenwood Grange. MARS will also provide an update on current efforts to purchase additional lands for the project. The Glenwood-based non-profit purchased 100 acres at the Glenwood Valley Mill Pond in 2011, and the property has already been extensively used for forestry, educational and recreational activities. "Given the number of activities already occurring user conflicts will inevitably occur. So we want to hear from community members and interested parties what they want to see happen with the property," said MARS director Jay McLaughlin. "Our plan is to make this an annual event where, true to community forest management, we can gather ideas that will shape the kind of exemplary forest management and community involvement that define the effort." |
