Nova Georgia Streich, 73, of Elgin, Ore., died April 18, 2001, at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on May 5, 2001, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Elgin Community Center.
Mrs. Streich was born on March 30, 1928, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel (Dolph) Little in Bellingham. In 1946, she graduated from high school in Kelso, and on April 26, 1947, she married Walter Streich in Kelso. They lived in Elgin from 1957 to 1958. They later moved to Mt. Hood. In 1981, they returned to Elgin.
Mrs. Streich was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Elgin Women's Service Club. She enjoyed crafts of various types, playing Bunko every week, and loved flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Streich, Elgin, Ore.; daughter Karen Wood, Elgin; sons Arne Streich, La Grande, Ore., and Andy Streich, White Salmon; grandchildren Allen Bemis, Samantha Bemis and Andrea Streich, all of White Salmon; and other relatives and friends. Her father preceded her in death in 1956 and her mother in May of 2000.
Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Ore., 97850, who was in charge of arrangements.
Florence Marie Lee, a former resident of White Salmon, died in Hood River on April 17, 2001, at the age of 81.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1919, in Highmore, S.D. For most of her life, she worked for the U.S. Navy in civil service as a secretary. For the last nine years, she has resided at the Hood River Care Center.
Survivors include brothers Howard Lee, Highmore, S.D., and Harold Lee, Spokane; sisters Catherine LaFortune, Highmore, S.D., and Betty Bell, Kingman, Ariz.; and numberous nieces and nephews.
