Plan to "make it a day" right here in downtown White Salmon on Dec. 8.
A holiday open house atmosphere will be in every retail business. Many shops will also be hosting artisans with locally handcrafted goods from homemade fudge to soap to jewelry, birdhouses, smoked salmon and cider. The Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the crafters as an extension of its popular Sunday Market. A full list of shops and crafters can be found in each business.
Local musicians will provide entertainment during the day at The Creamery. Jump on the hay wagon (weather permitting) to sing carols while riding through town. The hayrides are being provided by the White Salmon Rotary Club and Meadows Orchards, and co-hosted by the Columbia High Future Business Leaders.
"We all need to take time to be together, appreciate that we are safe and warm and free to hug one another and appreciate our quality of life where we have chosen to live," said Pam Morneault, owner of Collage of the Gorge and the energy behind the downtown merchants' efforts.
Home in White Salmon coordinates with a full contingent of activities over the weekend including the White Salmon Library's Wassail Open House from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and the Community Benefit Dinner at Mt. Adams Elks Lodge on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
