Gorge Winds plan concert

Concert band will hold annual Christmas Concert and Singalong on Dec. 16 at The Dalles Auditorium.

The Gorge Winds Concert Band, now in its second year of providing music to the mid-Columbia region, will hold its second annual Christmas Concert and Singalong on Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. in The Dalles Civic Auditorium.

The Christmas program will include such music as: "We Wish You A Merry Christmas," "Silent Night," "White Christmas," and a dozen other Christmas tunes and caroles. The concert will be capped off with a new arrangement of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."

Based in The Dalles and led by Sam Grotte and Greg Weast, the band has nearly 50 musicians who play solely for the love of music.

The band is a community band, in the finest sense of the word, with musicians as young as 14 and as old as 83.

Its music stretches from pops, show tunes, British band music to light classical.

The Christmas concert is free of charge, although donations may be offered.
