Klickitat and Lyle are on a collision course to determine who will be the top seed into the Yakima Valley B District Volleyball Tournament next month.
As things stand now, the Vandals (10-0) hold a one-match lead over the Cougars (9-1) in Greater Columbia B League standings, with four league matches remaining.
The two title contenders meet one final team during the regular season, on Oct. 23 in Lyle.
Trout Lake, meanwhile, is in a battle for the fifth berth to district.
The Mustangs (3-7) currently are sixth, one match back of the team (4-6 LaSalle) they hope to displace.
Klickitat 3, at Riverside 0 --
The Vandals served at a 97-percent clip in beating the Crusaders 15-3, 15-8, 15-2 last Friday.
Senior Randi Steindorf led five girls in the 100 percent category. She went 18 for 18 from the line and served a team-leading two aces. She also had 17 assists and two saves.
Junior Jordan Graeme led Klickitat's attack. She delivered 12 kills in 16 attempts. Both senior Michelle Martell and junior Naomi Vitale had seven kills.
Klickitat's undefeated junior varsity (9-0) served six aces in its three-set victory. Scores were 15-10, 16-14, 15-5.
Denise Cleveland and Kaeley Schultz each had two aces. Other highlights included Lindsey Huwe's seven kills and Danielle Curtis' six.
Sunnyside Christian 3, at Trout Lake 0 --
The Mustangs lost in three last Friday, 15-3, 15-9, 15-6.
Trout Lake highlights included sophomore Stephanie Bennett's seven assists, senior Linda Whigham's three kills, and freshman Jessica Moore's two blocks.
At Klickitat 3, Glenwood 0 --
The Vandals sent the visiting Eagles on their way Oct. 9, winning by scores of 15-1, 15-6, 15-3.
Senior Michelle Martell paced Klickitat's attack. She served 20 of 20, with five aces, and had seven kills and three blocks. Junior Jordan Graeme notched a team-leading nine kills.
In jayvee action, six players served 100 percent as Klickitat won 15-1, 15-7, 15-7.
Klickitat netted 12 aces, led by Summer Zoller's three. Danielle Curtis, Rochelle Overbay and Diedra Clack each had one ace.
At Lyle 3, Trout Lake 0 --
The Cougars swept the Mustangs 15-9, 15-3, 15-10 in league action Oct. 9.
Trout Lake senior Linda Whigham had a big night offensively, scoring nine kills on 13 of 15 attacks.
Sophomore Stephanie Bennett contributed with eight assists, five saves and five digs. Soph Sierra Long had four digs and completed 93 percent of her serves.
