An exciting destination to add to your fall agenda is Stevenson. There, you will find art and history bountifully nestled amid the natural grandeur of the landscape.
Abstract oil paintings by Northwest artist Martha Mottau Reisdorf of Lake Oswego, Ore., depict the beauty of the Gorge and will be featured in a joint exhibit by the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center and Dolce Skamania Lodge.
The renderings will be on display and for sale now through February 2002 with the main exhibit at the center in the short-term exhibit gallery.
Skamania Lodge houses an extensive permanent art collection by acclaimed Pacific Northwest artists. Three of the artist's works are added to the lodge's art display to complement her special featured exhibit at the center.
Reisdorf received her formal education at the University of Wisconsin, Pacific Northwest College of Art, and Portland State University.
Her work is widely recognized and in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. It has appeared in numerous solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries west of the Mississippi River.
A tragic accident in 1990 altered her vision and balance. She compensates for minimized visual acuity through integrating bold lines, deep textural references and rich color schematics.
