Hood River plays host to W.S. artists, musicians

Artists from the White Salmon area will be showcased at the Nov. 2 First Friday in Hood River.

Come see and hear the many artists from the White Salmon area who will be showcasing their work at the Nov. 2 First Friday in Hood River.

Even though this is an art event staged in downtown Hood River, many of the artists are from various locations throughout the Gorge. White Salmon is represented by Julie Ueland with her Backsplash works; Martin Trees, photography; and Kristen Olsen, watercolors.

Cascade Trio will be playing its acoustic music and the White Salmon-based sketch artists cooperative group of Figuratively Speaking will be on hand.

Other musicians for the November event include Sebastian Strings, Bob Connolly, Ivy Rose and Ron Delano, Wild River, Montraville & Darla and Crazy Hearts.

The over 40 hosting businesses will extend hours from 5 to 8 p.m. and many will also provide food and drink.

The Columbia Art Gallery will also be having a reception between 7 and 9 p.m. for its November show, featuring "Local Treasures," the works of Gayle Weisfield, Bonnie White and Frank Reiber.

First Fridays are a cooperative effort between downtown merchants and local artists and musicians for the benefit of everyone.

The Hood River Downtown Business Association and the Columbia Gorge Arts and Culture Council will be continuing this art and music driven event on the First Friday of each month through and including December.
