Nine months after winning three medals at the prestigious 23rd annual Tri-Cities wine festival, Wind River Cellars of Husum and Celilo Vineyard of Underwood have again been recognized for exceptional quality wines.
In May, Wind River Cellars was awarded three medals at the Northwest Wine Summit for wines produced from grapes grown at Celilo Vineyard.
Wind River Cellars Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer were both given bronze medals and their dessert wine, "Port of Celilo" was awarded the gold medal.
July 14, winners were announced for the State Fair Wine Competition in Yakima. This time wind River Cellar's Port of Celilo was not only awarded a gold medal, but also the "Best in Class" award.
"It's quite an honor to receive a gold medal", says winery owner Kris Goodwillie.
Celilo Vineyard manager Rick Ensminger was also pleased.
"It's great to be a part of a local industry that is experiencing so much success. These awards promote this grape growing region, the local wine industry, and the Columbia River Gorge," he said.
