It's raffle-mania time

Glenwood News for April 4

By the

The sophomore class had a raffle in which two Easter baskets loaded with goodies were the prizes. Ashley Fraser's and Louise Lorenz's tickets were drawn to win the baskets. The Class of 2004 would like to thank the BZ Store and the Shade Tree for letting the class display the baskets; and thanks to everyone else for supporting the class by purchasing tickets.

The Glenwood Horse 4-H Club is selling tickets for a 50/50 raffle, with the winning ticket to be drawn on April 6. If you haven't already bought a ticket, any of the members of the 4-H horse group have them for sale.

The senior class is also raffling two beautiful quilts made by Mary Dean. The quilts are displayed at the Shade Tree Inn, and tickets are available from any senior. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Mother's Day Tea.

The high school track team has competed in meets at The Dalles, Wahtonka and Goldendale High School, so far. Jenna Dean, javelin, and Chelsey Wheelhouse, discus and shot put, have consistently placed in the top three in their events. While other team members Mitch Wheelhouse, discuss and shot put, Jody Holly, high jump, Braun Tomeo, pole vault and high jump, and Tanner Beeks, discus, shot put and javelin, have enjoyed success in their events as well. Good luck for the rest of the season team.

The Glenwood High School Rodeo team will be kicking off its eight-weekend spring tour with a trip to Benton City April 6 and 7. Team members Travis Miller, Kim Hoctor and Shayne Arnold will be traveling throughout Central and Eastern Washington to accumulate points in their respective events. The Washington State High School Rodeo Finals will be held in Ellensburg May 30-June 2. The top four from each event at the end of the WSHSRA finals will be eligible to compete in the National High School Rodeo Finals in Farmington, N.M. Those finishing in fifth through 10th places can compete at the Silverstate International Rodeo in Fallon, Nev., as well. Travis, Kim and Shayne would like to thank everyone who supported their potato feed, Christmas centerpiece, and fruit sale fundraisers, as well as everyone who worked so hard to put on the annual Glenwood High School Rodeo.

The next meeting of the Glenwood Homemakers will be held at the school in the home ec room on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. Plans are to work on the sports banners so they will be finished before the Spring Awards Banquet. For those wishing to participate in an exchange, please bring a garden decoration.

Remember to set your clocks "AHEAD" one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Daylight savings time will begin on Sunday, and upset our "inner clocks" for a few days.
