This year's annual community cleanup week in the Bingen-White Salmon area is set to begin on April 22 and continue through April 28.
The event is sponsored by the Mt. Adams of Chamber of Commerce, "with great assistance from Rotary, Rabanco, and the Port of Klickitat," according to Debra Reed, general manager of the Chamber.
"There's nothing new this year, just another good cleanup," she said. "It's a nice spring effort, to be ship-shape for our visitors. And for all of us to appreciate ourselves."
Area residents can bring their trash, including recyclables, brush, and other trash to the Port land on Lakeview Boulevard right across from the wastewater plant in Bingen.
The city of White Salmon will collect yard debris at no additional cost during the week. The debris must be in bags or garbage cans, and must not include rocks, dirt, or household trash.
Reed said the Chamber will start taking phone calls for pickup assistance after April 15. To arrange for a pickup, call the Chamber at 493-3630.
