County inks new landfill deal

Contract signed with Allied Waste/Rabanco.

On April 15, Klickitat County signed a new contract with Allied Waste/Rabanco, the company that operates the regional landfill at Roosevelt.

The deal has been in the works for several months.

According to Klickitat County Commissioner Don Struck, the deal is for 25 years, with an additional 15-year extension optional.

The agreement also increases the tonnage the site can take from 3 million tons a year to 5 million tons a year.

The contract provides for a minimum of $6.2 million to be paid to the county annually for the next five years.
