Eagle track team is awesome

Glenwood News for April 18

By the

Our Eagles track team is so awesome. Jenna Dean threw the javelin 145 feet and has been wining firsts in all the meets. Chelsy has been placing first in the discus but also competes strong in the shot. Chels's brother Mitch also competes in the shot and discus. And Bron Tomeo won the pole vault at the Cherry Festival in Wahtonka. Also competing on our Glenwood Eagle track team is Tanner Beeks and Ned Putnam.

Let us congratulate our high school rodeo. Shayne Arnold took Benton City by storm, placing first in the breakaway calf roping for both days of the competition. She won with a 2.4 second run on Saturday and 3.4 second run on Sunday. Way to rope, Shayne!

Another awesome member of our high school rodeo team, Travis Miller, placed eighth in calf roping on Saturday and 11th on Sunday. Good job, Travis!

An unfortunate accident for Kim Hoctor, also a competing member of the high school rode. While stepping off her horse in the goat-tying event, she broke her ankle. We're all sorry this happened and can't wait to see your spunk out in the arena again.

During Glenwood's spring break, Brad Gimlin took his cousin Kortni Camp to see her home. They even took the dog. Brad says he survived the trip but the dog got sick.

Also in the traveling spirit is Lee Ann Burgin. She has spent the last couple of weeks at Lake Havasu Resort. She says it's hot, beautiful and most of all fun.

Glenwood Women's Club just held its salad luncheon meeting Tuesday. They are still hosting Bingo on the first Friday night of the month and pinochle on the remaining Fridays -- all starting at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall in Glenwood. All are welcome to come and participate.

The West Klickitat Pomona #32 meeting to be held April 27 at the Grange in Lyle has been canceled. The next quarterly Pomona meeting will be held July 27 at the Glenwood Grange Hall at 10 a.m. with a potluck lunch at noon.

Mark your calendars for up coming events. There will be a double-header baseball game with LaSalle here, starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Prom is going to be held at the civic auditorium in The Dalles on Saturday, April 20, from 8 to 11 p.m. Also to think about, the seniors are putting on a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Homemakers are looking for Glenwood alumni to serve at the upcoming awards banquet on May 22. If you are alumni and would be interested in helping please call Rachel Throop or contact the Glenwood School and leave a message. Thank you.

Glenwood Grange is planning an appreciation breakfast for the Glenwood community volunteer fire department and EMTs in the very near future. Watch for the date that will be announced soon.
