On April 5, 2002, the sheriff's office executed a search warrant at 209 Ash Street in Murdock.

The search warrant was obtained as part of an investigation into several burglaries and car prowls in the Murdock and Dallesport areas.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit and deputy sheriffs entered the residence and found over $10,000 in suspected stolen property.

Arrested in connection to this investigation was Dustin I. Wynn, 27, originally from the Longview area. He was arrested for possession of stolen property second degree and unlawful possession of a firearm first degree.

Property recovered included firearms, jewelry, tools, collectibles and electronics.

Many items have been identified and claimed, however, the sheriff's office still needs some assistance. If anyone in the Dallesport or Murdock area has been a victim of a property crime and has missing items generally described above, contact either Detective Sergeant Erik Anderson or Detective Mike Kallio at KCSO, 773-4455.

A 48-year-old Wyoming man was killed Sunday in a one-vehicle accident 12 miles east of Goldendale on the Bickleton Hwy.

According to the police report, David W. Manker, 48, Mountain View, Wyo., was driving his 2000 Ford Mustang eastbound on the Bickleton Hwy. The vehicle left the road way, cartwheeling before coming to rest in a field.

Both Manker and passenger William H. Rhodes, 52, Evanston, Wyo., were ejected from the vehicle. Manker was pronounced dead at the scene. Rhodes was airlifted to Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The Washington State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle accident Sunday, at approximately 5:45 a.m. at milepost 105.7 on state Route 14.

According to the report, a 2000 Freight Tractor truck was westbound on SR14 when a high wind gust caused the trailer to cross the centerline. The driver, Kurt T. Gortler, 32, St. Helens, Ore., braked causing the trailer and tractor to jackknife, rolling onto its left side. The vehicle entered a broadside skid across the eastbound lane. It then traveled off the roadway, coming to rest on its left side.

Gortler, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the accident.

A passenger, Timothy A. Crump, 37, Portland was, however, injured. He was transported to Mid Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
