59th annual Klickitat County Fair and Rodeo gets underway in one week

Something for everybody.

That's what the typical county fair offers.

But the Klickitat County Fair and Rodeo, now in its 59th year, promises to be anything but typical when it begins its annual four-day run next Thursday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m. sharp.

This year's fair and rodeo will feature a country kick-off barbecue and cowboy auction, team penning and branding contests, parades, daily live entertainment, a climbing rock wall, the ever-popular market stock sale, two days of rodeo action, and a plethora of exhibits showing off the imagination and craft of county residents.

Admission to the fairgrounds and arena grandstand is $6 daily or $12 season for adults; $5 daily/$10 season for seniors; $4 daily/$8 season for children ages 7-12; and free for children 6 and under when accompanied by an adult.

The fairgrounds are located in Goldendale on Fairgrounds Road, in the northwest corner of town, adjacent to the airport.

To reach the fairgrounds, take a left onto Mill Street and go straight if coming into town from the west on State Route 142. The parking lot is across the road from the fairgrounds.

If traveling north on US 97, turn left onto and follow Columbus Avenue to its intersection with Broadway; take a left onto Broadway, then turn right at Mill Street and continue on; south on 97, turn right onto Broadway and go straight until Mill Street.
