Rainier Timber closes public access to Klickitat Tree Farm

Fire danger prompts closure

The Campbell Group, LLC, on behalf of Rainier Timber LLC (Rainier) announces the closure of public access to its 83,000 acre Klickitat Tree Farm located in Klickitat and Yakima counties, effective Aug. 19.

The closure includes no public entry (no hunting, fishing, hiking or camping etc.).

Existing fire conditions in the northwest have approached a severe condition that warrants this closure.

Rich Potter, area manager for The Campbell Group said, "Rainier Timber LLC has already had one fire start likely due to recreational use along the Klickitat River and as a result we need to reduce the risk of fire from the public."

Potter added, "We will evaluate public access during the remaining fire season and determine if any access will be allowed, weather conditions will have to change dramatically to allow public access to open up."

Rainier joins two other major private landowners in the area.

Any questions about public access should be directed to the Klickitat office at 364-3331.
