The Ford Gorge Games, the world's leading outdoor sports competition and festival, comes to NBC Sports Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.
In addition, the Outdoor Life Network (OLN), the Gorge Games' new cable partner, will broadcast the event on Oct. 10 and 17 with repeated airings scheduled. (Check local listings for times).
The fast-paced, heart-pounding action of the adventure sports landscape is brought to life through exciting competitions, in-depth athlete profiles and interviews. The broadcasts will also showcase the beautiful scenery of the Columbia River Gorge.
On-air talent includes Olympic gold medallist Summer Sanders, Paul Sunderland and specialists Pat Parnell (windsurfing/kiteboarding) and 2001 Extreme Kayak Champion Sam Drevo (kayaking).
Highlights of the Sept. 1 show will include:
Elite female kaykers taking on the 30-foot "Big Brother Falls" in women's extreme kayaking,
A first-ever Gorge Games sail-off to determine the men's windsurfing champion,
Profiles on top climbers Tori Allen and Chris Sharma, and
Kayakers battling it out in a boarder-cross format in men's head-to-head kayaking competition on the White Salmon River.
The Sept. 8 show will offer viewers the chance to:
Experience the mental and physical journeys of the world's elite Adventure Race teams,
Watch kayakers conquer the White Salmon River's "Big Brother Falls" in the men's extreme kayaking competition,
See an international field do battle on the Columbia River in the kiteboarding event, and
Enjoy the women's windsurfing competition as it comes down to the last heat.
