HEAVY RAIN --
At approximately 1:50 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 11, the Washington State Patrol along with Klickitat Valley Hospital ambulance and Rescue personnel responded to a report of an injury collision on SR 14 near milepost 123. Molly Munson of West Richland, was driving a 1990 Chevrolet van eastbound on SR 14 when it was struck broadside by a rockslide. The vehicle also struck a large boulder with the front left portion of the van. The rock slide caused both lanes of SR 14 to be blocked until Department of Transportation units could clear the road. Heavy rain in the area had caused the slide. One lane of the highway was cleared within an hour so traffic could be shuttled through and both lanes were cleared in approximately two hours. Munson suffered a broken left-ankle and was transported by ambulance to KVH. She had been wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.
