`Big Tree Ski' race beckons to XC skiers of all abilities

Jan. 26 cross-country event, sponsored by Trout Lake Cabin Fever Festival, is free of charge

Got cabin fever? Then it's time to get out and come enjoy a winter morning at Mt. Adams during the 8-kilometer "Big Tree Ski" cross-country race on Saturday, Jan. 26.

The course is a groomed loop trail for classic diagonal stride skiing. Racing is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 9.

Race headquarters will be at the Pineside Sno-Park, six miles north of Trout Lake. (To get there, follow the Mt. Adams Recreation Area signs. And please note: parking is by 2002 Sno-Park permit only.)

The free-of-charge event is open to both competitive racers and those wishing to ski at a more relaxed pace. The course takes you past Trout Lake's legendary "Big Tree," one of the largest known ponderosa pines in the Northwest.

The Trout Lake Cabin Fever Festival is sponsoring the event. For information, call (509) 395-2617.
