Washington State Patrol Report.

An 18-year-old Stevenson High School cheerleader was killed Jan. 16 at approximately 11:15 p.m. in a two-car accident on an icy road near Stevenson.

According to the accident report, a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by Patricia L. Arnold, 40, North Bonneville, was eastbound on SR 14 near milepost 39. A second vehicle, a 1992 Mazda, driven by Ashley L. Malcolm, 18, Skamania was westbound. Arnold's vehicle went off the roadway and then re-entered the roadway. The two vehicles then collided in the eastbound lane.

Malcolm was pronounced dead at the scene of internal injuries. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Arnold, who was also wearing a seat belt, was transported with injuries to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. Late last week, she was listed in satisfactory condition with an open fracture of her right leg.

The investigation prompted the closure of SR 14 for nearly four hours.

The Washington State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle injury accident Monday afternoon at approximately 4:50 p.m. on state Route 97 near milepost 24.

According to the report, John R. Demontiney, 37, Toppenish, was driving northbound on SR97. His vehicle, a 2001 Dodge pickup, left the roadway to the east, rolling twice before coming to rest facing southbound.

Demontiney was transported to Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale with injuries. A passenger in the pickup, Phillip J. Miranda, 50, Wapato, was also transported to KVH with injuries.

Both men were wearing seatbelts.
