Scott Mandrell to lead expedition July 27-28

Scott Mandrell, a Meriwether Lewis re-enactor from Missouri will be leading an "expedition" down the Columbia river into Clark County on July 27-28.

The Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, Missouri and the Hog Heaven Muzzleloaders of Lewiston, Idaho will camp at Captain William Clark Park, Cottonwood Beach in Washougal on Saturday, July 27. The re-enactors, in authentic period dress, will use traditional methods to build an overnight camp and make fires with flint and steel. The public is welcome to visit the camp, pitch a tent and stay overnight or bring a canoe and paddle down the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean.

The Discovery group will canoe to Frenchman's Bar in Vancouver and set up camp on Sunday, July 28.
