Future Columbia High School football players are invited to take part in the 10th annual White Salmon Football Camp, June 24-27, at CHS.
Players entering grades 4-9 in the coming school year are eligible. The camp fee is $35 per player, and includes a souvenir football or t-shirt.
Instruction will be provided by members of the White Salmon Valley School District's coaching staff, under the direction of CHS Head Coach Larry McCutcheon.
Camp participants will learn the fundamentals of throwing, catching and team play, and how to run the offenses and defenses used by CHS and Henkle Middle School.
In addition, time will be set aside each day for speed, agility and quickness training.
According to McCutcheon, the camp will serve as a primer for boys who plan to play junior (youth) football this summer, or middle school and high school football this fall.
"We feel that by (coordinating the three levels of play), our players will be better equipped and versed in our program at a younger age," he said. "Kids who plan on playing football this year will find this camp an invaluable experience."
He noted that's especially true for boys who intend to play junior football.
"The boys who played junior football last year improved greatly as the year progressed. Those boys who attended our camp in June found that they had a significant head start on those who did not."
