Klickitat Wine Alliance, a newly formed organization consisting of over 20 growers and vintners on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge, emerged extremely successful at the state-wide event 'Taste Washington'.
Some 2,000 wine and food aficionados had a chance to sample and learn more about the great variety of wines offered from the Klickitat area including Mary Hill Winery, Wind River Cellars, Cascade Cliffs Winery, Marshal's Winery and Vineyard and Syncline Wine Cellars.
Event goers also had a chance to meet and mingle with Klickitat's grape growers and learn first-hand about Klickitat's unique terroir and how it truly represents the heart of Washington's wine country.
Grape grower, Rob Andrews, owner of Andrews Horse Heaven Ranch and recognized by many in the industry as a quality wine pioneer, was sought after at the event for his knowledge on quality wine growing, due to his prestigious award as grape grower of the year for Hogue.
"This event gave all of the wineries and growers in the area the opportunity to come together as a group and let the wine world learn more about our region and the wide variety of high quality grapes and wine that we are producing; we all felt really good about it," says Kris Goodwillie, marketing chairman for Klickitat Wine Alliance and owner of Wind River Cellars.
The Klickitat region of Washington now boasts numerous wine making and grape growing awards.
