Klickitat split a double-header at Lyle last Saturday to hold onto first place in Greater Columbia B League softball standings.
Junior Jaecee Ramsay struck out 18 and scattered six hits as the Vandals prevailed 10-9 in game one, which also featured a 17-strikeout performance by Cougars sophomore Mitzi McMurrin.
Klickitat, which had five hits, scored three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to take a 10-6 lead.
Kaeley Schultz had two hits, including a triple, in four at-bats for the Vandals, who got RBI singles from Ramsay and Jordan Graeme.
McMurrin was 2 for 5 with two runs batted in. Tara Rappe was 2 for 4 and Kristin Brown also drove in two runs for Lyle, which committed four errors to Klickitat's two.
In game two, Lyle handed Klickitat its first league loss as Rappe went 4 for 4 with a triple, home run and six RBIs, and Tonya Schroeder fanned 13 in the Cougars' 16-12 victory.
Schroeder was 3 for 5 at the plate with four RBIs for Lyle, which scored five runs in the last of the sixth to erase a 12-11 deficit.
Brown and McMurrin both had two hits and an RBI, and Jackie Wolcott was 2 for 4 for the Cougars.
Klickitat, which out-hit Lyle 15-14, was led by Graeme, who knocked in three runs with a pair of doubles, and Jade Sanchey, who had three hits in four trips.
Ramsay was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Rochelle Overbay was 2 for 4 with a triple and one RBI for the Vandals.
