Columbia netters fire blanks against SW 2A League foes

Tenino defeated Columbia High for the second time this season, winning all five matches there last Friday.

Sophomore Jenny Mayer was shut out in her No. 1 singles match against Megan Smedley. She lost 6-0, 6-0.

In No. 2 singles, sophomore Emily Swick didn't fare much better, falling to Lori Cole, 6-1, 6-0.

Sophomore Sarah Court went down in defeat in No. 3 singles action versus Ashley Disken, by scores of 6-2, 6-1.

CHS's No. 1 doubles team of sophomore Martha Ohlson and freshman Desirae Lexa dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Holly Thornton and Desiree Melius.

Junior Adrienne Woosley and soph Brittany Kowach were turned back by Tenino's Mandra Brown and Jessica French, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 2 doubles play.

At Stevenson 3, Columbia High 0 --

The Bulldogs won all three matches May 1 against the Bruins. Results were as follows:

No. 1 singles --

Pam McGill d. Jenny Mayer, 6-3, 6-1.

No. 2 singles --

Carolyn Sourek d. Emily Swick, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-1.

No. 1 doubles --

Emily Ward-Kia Calderon d. Adrienne Woosley-Sarah Court, 6-0, 6-0.

Ridgefield 5, at Columbia High 0 --

The Spudders swept the Bruins April 30 in a SW Washington 2A League match on the Park Center courts. Results were as follows:

No. 1 singles --

Danielle Pfeifer d. Jenny Mayer, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.

No. 2 singles --

Rachel Wheelon d. Emily Swick, 6-2, 6-0.

No. 3 singles --

Ridgefield won by forfeit.

No. 1 doubles --

Jamie Posselt-Rachel Scherger d. Leah Wadman-Adrienne Woosley, 6-3, 6-1.

No. 2 doubles --

Bobbi Sue Wilson-Carrie Tanner d. Sarah Court-Brittany Kowach, 6-1, 6-1.
