Calf roper earns Ogden trip

Casey Arnold earned a trip to Ogden, Utah, on Memorial Day weekend in a college rodeo. Over the weekend, Casey competed in steer wrestling and calf roping at a college rodeo in Hermiston, Ore. He won the steer wrestling and ended up in the top 10 in calf roping for the Northwest College Regionals. Casey is a sophomore at Walla Walla Community College.

Jesse Dean is also a champion in Southwest Regional Track. He vaulted 15 feet on Saturday. He is a freshman at Clackamas Community College.

Shayne Arnold and Travis Miller competed in a high school rodeo over the weekend in Goldendale. Shayne won the breakaway roping on Saturday and placed sixth on Sunday. Travis ended up eighth on Saturday in calf roping.

The senior class raffled off two homemade quilts made by Ellen Dean on Friday at the Mother's Day Tea. Chris Miller and Hazel Parsons were the winners of the quilts.

2002 Ketchum Kalf Rodeo queen tryouts are nearing. Klickitat County girls ages 14-19 by Jan. 1, 2002, can enter. Call Roxie Clemmer by June 8, 509-364-3539. Tryouts will be June 16 at the rodeo grounds during the 68th annual Ketchum Kalf Rodeo.

Josh and Alicia Shaddox and son James of Anchorage, Alaska, visited Wanee Kuhnhausen on Monday.

Don House of La Grande, Ore., spent several days with his dad, Jack House.

Wanee Kuhnhausen visited Beth Carr in the nursing home in The Dalles recently. Beth misses all of her friends. She is doing well.

John and Kim Cooper and sons Jonathan, Justin and Nicky all spent a week in California visiting Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios and many more place. They all had a great time.
