Summer approaches and school vacation is almost here. Days creep longer and hotter. Finally, we can plant our gardens and plan picnics.

For those students who enjoy the social aspect of a school environment, where they see their friends daily , there is a summer program being offered at Trout Lake School. The Secrets Program begins June 19 for grades 4 through 8.

This is an outdoor school with an emphasis on ecology, and of course things outdoors. You will need to register early as the deadline is June 1. Outdoor school is fun and fills up fast. Call the school office 395-2571 to register.

Computer Camp will be held at Trout Lake School on June 27 and 28 for grades 5 through 8.

July 8, 9, 10, 11 will be kite making and other crafts. On June 11 the group will go to Hood River for a tour and to the Aqua Center for a water safety class and free swim.

Aug. 20-29 will be a team building academics and art class. Call the school for more information on this class.

AND don't forget the Bookmobile programs. There is a story book time for K through 4th grade at 11:30 a.m. to noon, and a teen program in the afternoon. The times the Bookmobile will stop at Trout Lake are available in the school office or by calling the White Salmon Library at 493-1132.

If you are interested in any of these school programs, don't forget to register.

A helper is needed during the July program. For information about this job, call Laurie Sherburne at the Trout Lake School.

Have a great summer! Newswriter, Sandi Thygesen
