It's time for the fall concert of The Gorge Winds.
The concert band is based in The Dalles, but about a quarter of its musicians live and work in Hood River and White Salmon. The remainder come from The Dalles, Goldendale, and as far away as Portland and The Tri-Cities.
The fall concert will be held at the Civic Center in The Dalles at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.
It's free of charge and will consist of about fifteen musical offerings in the range of pops, Broadway show tunes, light classical and marches. There's something here for everyone.
The Gorge Winds was started about two years ago with about 22 musicians. Since then, the band has steadily grown to its present size of over 50. The musicians have played throughout the Mid-Columbia Gorge, mostly in summer outdoor programs. You've heard them at Jackson Park for the 4th of July, The Trout Lake Artfair, Mosier Fall Festival, Goldendale Friends of the Library, and even as far away as the Watermelon Festival in Irrigon, where they've played the past two years.
