November is in the offing, and that means ski and snowboard season is rapidly approaching.
The Hood River Valley High School ski team also is getting ready for the upcoming season and is ready to help skiers and snowboarders get equipped for the slopes.
Its annual ski swap -- the ski team's only fundraiser -- is scheduled for Nov. 2-3 at Westside Elementary School on Belmont Drive.
The swap provides skiers and snowboarders the chance to unload their old gear or find some great bargains on newer or used equipment.
The doors will be open to buyers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. Cost of admission is $2.
Sellers can check in equipment on Friday, Nov. 1, from 3-10 p.m. Unsold equipment can be picked up between 12 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3.
All sales are final, with 20 percent of proceeds going to the HRVHS boys and girls ski teams' exclusive use.
Last year, HRVHS's girls team won the Oregon state championships. The team will be strong once again as it seeks to defend its state title.
