United Way Begins Fund Driver For 2003

Donations support agencies and programs that provide services to those in need.

United Way of Klickitat and Skamania counties has begun its 2002-2003 fund drive.

The goal for this season's campaign is $40,000.

Donations support agencies and programs that provide services to those in immediate need or support other important human service programs.

Agencies that will receive support from United Way during the 2002-2003 year are American Red Cross, Free Toy Store, Goldendale Pregnancy Resource Center, Hospice of the Gorge, Klickitat County Senior Services, Skamania County Senior Services, Girl Scouts of the Columbia River Council, Boy Scouts, Mid-Columbia District, Klickitat Skamania Development Council (Goldendale Community Food Bank, Skamania County Food Bank, KSDC Bingen Food Bank, The Guided Path, and The Community Youth Center), Mid-Columbia Medical Center (Visiting Health Services for Klickitat County), Mid Columbia Children's Council (Head Start), New Hope Farms, Nuestra Comunidad Sana, Catholic Family & Child Services (Volunteer Chore Program), Rock Creek Therapeutic Day Care, Skamania County Pool, Stevenson United Methodist Church (Wee Care Day Care), and Columbia High School Ski Board Club (serving high school students in Columbia, Klickitat and Trout Lake High Schools).

During the 2001 fiscal year about 93 percent of all dollars received by United Way of Klickitat and Skamania counties went toward the direct support of recipient agencies.

These agencies are required to utilize United Way support only in Klickitat and Skamania Counties.
