Fender Benders To Perform During Hoodstock Concert

Popular Gorge band to perform on Sept. 7

"Les Vaughn & The Fender Benders" hail from the Columbia River Gorge and are known throughout the northwestern region of the United States.

Audiences of all ages will be amazed by their versatility, adaptability, style and enthusiasm when they perform in concert during Hoodstock at the Hood River marina on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m.

Lead vocals and composition writing responsibilities are shared by all members and this is, by far, an extremely creative and very talented group.

Their musicianship is undeniable; they have some of the best lead guitar harmonies and rhythm guitar sounds you'll ever hear, along with free style, effortless vocal harmonies.

The passion is as present as the Fender guitars that actually gave the members of this group a name for themselves.

Les Vaughn, the group's leader, was inspired by musical artists, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and others.

"Les Vaughn & The Fender Benders" have performed in Nashville, Tenn. Vaughn was chosen as one of a select few specially invited guests of The 2000 Christian Country Music Explosion. He has also appeared several times in the Christian Country Music Association's publication, "Power Source Magazine."

Performing with his group, Les provides the strong rhythm guitar, fill, harmonies and memorable lead vocals. Les Vaughn brings country standards, oldies and rock and roll to the forefront and writes many of the compositions that the group performs.

Ted Matzen also writes for the group, plays guitar, does vocals and brings a blues/reggae influence, coupled with bluegrass and country.

Alan Hare's first professional music experience was playing in a Top 40 Hispanic band. His high harmonies and strong vocal leads are a large credit to the sound the band has achieved.

Mike Rule is the newest member of the group. He also writes originals for the group. Mike is a talented musician and very versatile member of the group; playing bass guitar, flute, and guitar.

Of course, every group needs a committed and strong drummer. The group alternates between two different drummers, both of whom are seasoned professionals.
