The Klickitat County Planning Department has issued a "mitigated determination of non-significance" (MDNS) for a proposal to build and operate a natural gas-fueled crematorium unit at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.
The MDNS means the lead agency for the proposal "has determined that this proposal does not have a probable significant impact on the environment."
The proposal is scheduled for a public hearing before the Klickitat County Board of Adjustment on Oct. 7.
The deadline for comments on the county's MDNS is Sept. 5, at 5 p.m. For information, contact Curt Dreyer at the Planning Department at (509) 773-5703.
However, the Washington Department of Ecology (DOE) will accept comments related to an air quality permit until Sept. 27.
To comment to DOE, contact Robert Swackhamer at 15 W. Yakima Ave., Suite 200, Yakima, Wash., 98902.
