Klickitat won its 55th straight Greater Columbia B League volleyball match, defeating archrival Lyle in three sets Sept. 17 at Lyle.
Seniors Jordan Graeme (10) and Naomi Vitale (8) combined for 18 kills and junior Kaeley Schultz compiled 16 assists as the Vandals won their league opener, 15-6, 15-2, 15-10, and improved to 2-0 on the season.
Juniors Rochelle Overbay and Lyndsey Huwe contributed errorless serving to the winning effort. Overbay went 11 for 11 and Huwe was 7 for 7.
Lyle 3, at Glenwood 0 --
The Cougars mowed down the Eagles in straight sets last Friday to earn their second GCB victory.
Lyle, which opened the season with a win at Bickleton, defeated Glenwood by scores of 15-7, 15-8, 15-3.
At Klickitat 3, Trout Lake 0 --
Led by the hitting of senior Jordan Graeme and the serving of junior Kaeley Schultz, the Vandals ran their GCB winning streak to 56 with last Friday's sweep of the Mustangs.
Graeme racked up 12 kills, while Schultz went 18-for-18 from the service line, including five aces. She also had 18 assists as Klickitat prevailed 15-2, 15-1, 15-7.
Seniors Naomi Vitale and Jaecee Ramsay, and junior Danielle Curtis also had strong matches for the Vandals.
Vitale recorded eight kills, while Ramsay registered five kills and put 16-of-17 serves in play, and Curtis hit on 100 percent of her serves (7-7).
At Bickleton 3, Glenwood 1 --
Rallying from a one-set deficit, the Pirates scored their first league win Sept. 17.
After the Eagles took the first set 15-10, the Pirates put together a run of 15-7, 15-4, 15-3 victories to take the match.
Klickitat at Wasco County Tournament --
The Vandals remained undefeated by beating Ione, Ore., 25-15, 25-20, 25-11 in the championship match last Saturday at South Wasco County High School in Maupin, Ore.
Klickitat ran its season match record to 10-0 with the win. On their way to the title match, the Vandals disposed of Condon, Ore. (15-11, 15-4), Spray, Ore. (15-8, 15-7) and Wahtonka of The Dalles (15-7, 15-8).
Tournament highlights for Klickitat included senior Jordan Graeme's 40 kills, junior Kaeley Schultz' 40 assists, and perfect serving by Schultz (42-42, 2 aces) and classmates Lyndsey Huwe (16-16) and Danielle Curtis (11-11).
Overall, Klickitat served at a 95-percent clip (148-155) and noted 78 kills in 159 chances.
