Klickitat splits with Lyle, gains ground in GCB standings

Lyle's Mitzi McMurrin in game one and Jaecee Ramsay of Klickitat in game two were virtually unhittable during a Greater Columbia B League softball double-header in Lyle last Saturday.

McMurrin surrendered just two hits in the Cougars' 14-9 seven-inning victory in game one.

Four Lyle errors contributed to Klickitat holding a 7-2 lead after two innings.

The Cougars took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning and added six more in the fifth for good measure.

McMurrin and Tonya Schroeder each had two hits and two runs batted in for Lyle, which connected for seven hits off Ramsay. Tara Rappe also drove in two runs.

In game two, Ramsay hurled a two-hitter and struck out 10, and went 3 for 5 with a triple and five RBIs to lead the Vandals to a 14-2 win.

Darcy Shupe also collected three hits in five trips and knocked in a run for Klickitat, which roughed up Lyle's Schroeder for 10 hits.

McMurrin paced the Cougars at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

Defensively, Lyle committed six errors and Klickitat made four.

Lyle's record stood at 5-1 in league and 7-2 overall after the split. Klickitat improved to 2-2 and 3-3.
