The Carson National Fish Hatchery will have two adult holding ponds filled with 700 rainbow trout just waiting to be caught on Saturday, Sept. 6.
That's the day the hatchery hosts its fifth annual Kids' Fishing Day, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
No new registrations will be taken after noon and all fishing ends at 1 p.m. The event is open to children age 12 and under.
Poles, bait, tackle, a casting practice station and fish cleaning will be provided. You may want to bring a cooler with ice to take your fish home in.
In addition to the fishing, educational activities will be provided, including the miniature golf course "Migration Golf - Links to the Sea," which will be set up and ready for players.
Concession foods and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go to the Associated Fund Raisers Fire District #1 Christmas Basket Program.
For further information about the event, call the hatchery at (509) 427-5905.
