Library holds holiday Wassail Saturday

Annual Friends of the Library event features music, art and refreshments

The Friends of the White Salmon Valley Community Library invite the public to their 29th Annual Holiday Wassail celebration.

The open house will be on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Library. Join in the afternoon of music, art, and refreshments, to help celebrate the holiday season.

Local artists and artisans will be on hand to informally demonstrate and share their craft and inspiration. Andy Anderson, carousel animal restorer for the International Museum of Carousel Art will be demonstrating his woodcarving and restoration skills. Glass bead maker, Lee Lynn Thompson, who uses the lamp-worker technique, will share her work. Mary Alice Wagner, Jane McLean and other local fiber artists will demonstrate spinning, knitting and other techniques. Photography exhibit Windows on the Gorge by Bob Koch of The Dalles will be on display in the Sprint/Baker Gallery during the Wassail and through the month of December.

Music this year will include Judy Skelton, of Trout Lake, on the piano throughout the afternoon. The Columbia High School Jazz Choir directed by Rob Jones will perform at 2 p.m. The Asbury Hand Bell Choir will play at 3 p.m.

Friends of the Library will provide a delicious array of sweet and savory refreshments along with their traditional hot Wassail punch.
